Another poor western, but I've seen so many bad ones now that Apache Junction (2021) almost seemed good at times. Wasn't, though.

Every once in a while, there comes a film that is filled from beginning to end with fantastic performances, beautiful cinematography and a story that keeps you hooked and wanting more. Apache Junction is the exact opposite of that.

Review by Luke Thorne ★
Justin Lee’s violent action western in which Apache Junction is an outpost of lawlessness. When a reporter arrives in town, it's up to a gunslinger to protect her.
The movie concerns on Apache Junction, which is an Old West settlement of anarchy, a haven for robbers and cold-blooded murderers. After big-city journalist Annabelle Angel (Scout Taylor-Compton) enters the area and becomes a target, dishonourable gunslinger Jericho Ford (Scott Townsend) comes to her help. Now, Annabelle is forced to commend her future to a man with a fatal history as Jericho heads in the direction of an anxious battle.
Scott Townsend gives an unconvincing performance in his role as Jericho Ford, the unlikeable character because of his history, but Jericho shows…

It’s all thoroughly generic, and feels about sixty years too late. If the Western genre is dead these days, this kind of film is the disease rather than the cure.

A horribly cliched and dull story, made worse by acting that can only be described as horrible. Flat and boring cinematography compounds to make this a movie that's so painful to watch you'd probably take a bullet to the shoulder over watching this.

Review by Ben🤘 ★★½
The action is rather clunky, but the component cast, and good camera work and visuals make it a decent watch. Also, surely to God someone can find something better for Thomas Jane to do in 2022 Jesus Christ.

Having lived in this godforsaken city I really wanted to love this movie. I even thought the intro was hilarious with the female protagonist saying some describe this land as hell with Apache Junction appearing across the screen.
Problem is, how in the living hell do you make a movie about Apache Junction and don’t include the Superstition Mountains in any shot? Other issues are they clearly used plastic poker chips, those things were so bright they flowed in the dark like three letter government agents. Hay bales were clearly machine bound despite the technology not existing at the time, but that’s a minor nitpick. Plot was a bit slow too.
On the plus side, the actors were interesting or good looking. The sheriff had a great voice and I’m told he is a country singer which makes sense.
